Terms of Service

These terms govern use of Kindred websites, apps, employee tools, rider services, and driver software. Kindred is owned and operated by Berry Street Research LLC.

Prelaunch and Market Availability

Kindred is initially configured for New York City. Ride dispatch, payment capture, driver activation, and public launch remain disabled until the required market, insurance, and TLC or high-volume for-hire service requirements are complete.

Rider Terms

Riders are responsible for accurate pickup and dropoff details, lawful conduct, payment authorization, cancellation and no-show fees, support reports, and treating drivers with respect. Fare quotes may change when a driver with a different approved rate card accepts, when route details change, or when lawful pass-through charges apply.

Driver Terms

Drivers must maintain required licenses, vehicle approvals, insurance, documents, background checks, subscriptions, and compliance status. Drivers configure rate cards within market limits and receive the full ride fare, subject to payment processor fees, chargebacks, taxes, lawful withholdings, and any pass-through adjustments. Drivers independently choose when and where to offer services, whether to accept individual requests, and whether to use competing platforms. The intended independent-business relationship remains subject to the worker-classification and transportation laws that apply in each market.

Subscriptions and Payments

Driver subscriptions are handled through Stripe Billing. Driver payout onboarding and payout timing are handled through Stripe Connect. Stripe account creation, bank verification, tax forms, and payout eligibility are subject to Stripe terms.

Driver Screening Fees

Before an initial background and motor-vehicle screening, and again when annual rescreening is due, a driver must pay the separately disclosed screening fee shown in Stripe Checkout or receive a documented waiver from Kindred. Screening fees are separate from the software subscription and ride fares. A paid fee is refundable when Kindred incurs no corresponding provider charge; duplicate payments are also refunded. Once a provider charge is incurred, the fee is nonrefundable except where applicable law requires otherwise. Failure to satisfy a currently due annual screening fee may suspend access to driver matching until payment, waiver, or refund resolution.

Safety and Enforcement

Kindred may suspend or remove accounts for unsafe behavior, fraud, document issues, regulatory concerns, payment risk, abuse, or policy violations. Emergency matters should be directed to 911 first.

Disclaimers

The apps and website are provided as-is during prelaunch testing. Some services may be unavailable, delayed, limited by market configuration, or dependent on third-party services.
