Privacy Policy

Kindred is owned and operated by Berry Street Research LLC. This policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and protect information for riders, drivers, driver applicants, employees, support contacts, and website visitors.

Information We Collect

We collect account details, legal names where needed for driver review, contact information such as email addresses and phone numbers, precise location while app features are active, ride details, payment and payout identifiers, subscription and purchase history, driver onboarding documents, driver profile photos and vehicle or compliance images, support messages, device identifiers, app diagnostics, analytics events, referral and credit data, safety reports, and communications preferences.

Driver Screening and Identity Verification

For driver applicants and active drivers, we may collect screening authorizations, identity and selfie verification results, criminal-history and motor-vehicle report status, license and credential evidence, provider references, dispute and appeal records, and proof that required notices were delivered. Screening providers may process facial images or derived identity signals under their own notices. Kindred stores eligibility evidence and provider references rather than exposing private consumer reports to riders.

How We Use Information

We use information to create accounts, quote and dispatch rides, show pickup ETAs, process payments and payouts through Stripe, manage driver subscriptions, verify documents, prevent fraud, comply with NYC and other market rules, provide support, improve reliability, and measure product performance through analytics.

Location

Riders share location to set pickups, compare nearby driver availability, and support trip safety. Drivers share background location only while online or on an active trip so riders can receive accurate ETAs and trip progress.

Sharing

We share limited information with ride participants, cloud infrastructure providers, analytics providers, Stripe, identity and document verification vendors, support tools, regulators, law enforcement when legally required, and professional advisors. We do not sell personal information.

Security and Access Controls

We use authentication, App Check, role-based access, server-owned audit logs, restricted document paths, immutable screening evidence, signed provider webhooks, and payment-token references rather than raw card or bank credentials. No security control eliminates all risk.

Retention

We retain account, trip, payment, support, compliance, and safety records as long as needed for operations, tax, legal, regulatory, insurance, fraud prevention, and dispute purposes. Driver screening and adverse-action records are retained only as long as needed for those purposes and any legally required limitation or recordkeeping period. Provider systems may apply separate retention schedules described in their notices.

Your Choices

You may update profile details, change location permissions in iOS Settings, opt out of nonessential communications, request access or deletion where legally available, and close your account subject to required retention obligations.

Driver applicants may request the current screening disclosure, dispute report information with the identified consumer reporting agency, and use Kindred Driver to submit an appeal during an available response period. See the Driver Consumer-Report Disclosure.
